I didn’t fall!
(OR lose my hat.)
The graduation ceremony went off without a hitch (minus idiots with microphones; seriously, WTF mate?).
The post-ceremony-diploma-retrieval went off with slightly more of a hitch: Your’s Truly still, technically, does not have a degree. In a “funny” turn of events, Auburn University either 1) lied to me earlier this week, when I was told my transfer transcripts were all A-OK, or 2) “misplaced” a transcript. in either case, I’m supposed to try again later this week to see if I can retrieve that all-important piece of paper.
Anyhoo. I have a “Photos” section. Did you notice? There are now way too many photos of me available for your perusal.
On the waiting-for-news front: we’re still waiting for news.
About this entry
I beg your pardon, I have an announcement
SCHOOL’S OUT FOREVER*, BITCHES!
*Technically “forever” = until graduate school, so for ~3 years. I just really love the sound of FOREVER right now.
About this entry
2 weeks to graduation, motivation status: nil
I haunt a lot of forums, but there are very few forum threads themselves which I’ll bookmark: QC’s Sendspace Thread is one of these.
From there I get a lot of good music (and a lot of junk too) but every so often an album will get posted which just completely takes over my listening life. With that said… Gary Higgins’ Red Hash is probably the most gorgeous thing to come through my headphones in a long time. It’s literally been the only album I’ve listened to for the past three days. I’m loving the thing it’s got going on (intimate melancholy? ) - and the story behind the album is badass.
So - because a Sendspace link is about as enduring as your first crush, I’ve preserved the awesomeness here for your downloading pleasure.
Red Hash - m4a format; ~68mb tarball
Warning: the author takes no responsibility for any sudden urges to visit your local headshop that may result. Listen at your own risk.
Edit: Wow, I’m famous. Or maybe infamous. In either case, the link has been killed by order of the Powers That Be. That was quick.
About this entry
Do they have a flag?
Also, plug for True Places. Today’s leading source on all-things-[Sara+China]. Arrangements are going (ever-so-slowly) and I should be leaving in 4 weeks. Whether or not I take a loan out to cover my attention-deficiency remains to be seen. Ya, really.
Along the same lines, I’m still trying to decide what I’m doing after this coming December. Grad school is tempting, and I’ll get there eventually, but I’m not sure I want to immediately. I visited the school I like and the faculty liked me; coupled with a somewhat-uncommon, super-compatible research interest, I’m not seriously worried about landing there. The question is: do I want to do so in 2008, or 2010? When I’ll be… holy shit.
Bloody hell, I’m old.

It’s so easy when you know the rules
At Auburn, they occasionally make you register for random classes-that-aren’t (but may play one on TV). If you study abroad for a semester, you still register a 0 credit class at AU. Same goes for transient enrollment, etc. I got to do that at USA, for study abroad, and later honors, credit. Never got a chance to have a 0-credit class on my schedule since moving back here, though. Until now.
